As a single mom, raising two dedicated gymnasts in this crazy, constantly busy life, my whole life is about finding balance. Personally, professionally and even trying to channel my support and faith in my children to find balance, whether in their schoolwork, or on the floor competing in national gymnastics competitions.
Social media has had an incredibly huge impact in its relatively limited time as a communication tool. People that used to keep in touch every now and then on email can now chat and share photos instantly, anywhere, anytime. How has this phenomenon effected the meetings and events industry? In just about every way imaginable.
Conferences and meetings are so much a part of the world of today’s busy professional that it’s becoming increasingly important to make meeting more than a PowerPoint presentation and lunch. Sometimes even a dynamic speaker is not enough. Attendees want to have a little fun mixed in. Okay, in some cases, they want to have a lot of fun. And not just at a social event or the pub when the sessions are over, I mean during the conference itself.
Summer is concert season in the mid-Michigan area and from time to time, musical acts treat concert-goers to more than great music and a good time. Sometimes they really leave a powerful and positive impression.
The most common question I am asked by social, military and religious event planners is ‘what are some creative solutions for planning events on tight budgets?’ Based on the group and their specific needs I have five solid creative budget considerations that can make an event great at a fraction of the cost.
