April 2023
President's Message
April is Autism Acceptance Month! As a destination we have been working together to create opportunities within our community for those traveling on the autism spectrum for the past five years. In doing so, our region was recognized in 2022 by Accessible Journeys and Travel Ability as one of the top three destinations in the country for those traveling on the autism spectrum.
We have also initiated efforts to provide information about the accessibility of our hotels, meeting and sport venues, attractions, restaurants and other points of interest. We partnered with Able Vu to provide virtual tours as a know-before-you-go opportunity for visitors to understand our community before they arrive. We are the first Able Eyes Certified Destination in the United States.
View further details about the sensory friendly opportunities. We are grateful for all of the partners involved in the making our destination “welcoming to ALL”.
Please reach out to me at jpingston@lansing.org if I can assist you in any way. Thank you!
Julie
