Greater Lansing produces great wine. It’s true! If you’re looking for a wine tasting experience you really don’t have to travel hours when you have several wineries right here in Michigan’s capital region. You can find multiple award-winning wines, perries and hard ciders in this dedicated group of wine producers. Tastings are available as well as bottles to purchase and take home with you.
Head north to Uncle John’s Cider Mill to find the 85-year-old fruit packing house that’s been converted to a tasting room to sample from their over 20 award winning fruit, grape and dessert wines. They also have award winning hard ciders, perries and apple brandy and vodka made from their apples.
A more traditional winery is Burgdorf’s Winery in Haslett. The owners Deb and Dave have been making wine for over 40 years, beginning as hobbyists and now running a beautiful winery complete with a tasting room and patio seating in the back. Find reds, white the sweeter fruit /dessert wines. They use either their own grapes from their small vineyard or source them from around the state.
