Michigan State Capitol

The building is open to the public for free tours on weekdays and the first Saturday of each month. 

Michigan History Center

A short walk from the Capitol is the Michigan History Center. Dive into the rich history of the state through fascinating exhibits spanning from prehistoric times to the present day. Through engaging exhibits and interactive displays, you’ll journey from Michigan’s prehistoric roots to its role in shaping modern America. 

The center is open Monday-Saturday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. for a nominal admission and free on Sundays 1-5 p.m.

R.E. Olds Transportation Museum

Car buff? Be sure to check out Lansing's auto heritage and classic cars on display at the R.E. Olds Transportation Museum. Located at 240 Museum Drive in Lansing, this museum celebrates the legacy of Ransom E. Olds, founder of Oldsmobile and REO Motor Car Company. The museum's collection spans from 1886 to 2003, featuring vehicles like the 1897 Oldsmobile, REO Speedwagon’s, Pace Cars and dozens of other vehicles. 

The Museum is free for children under 12 and open Tuesday-Saturday 10am-5pm and Sunday 12p.m.-5p.m.
