President's Message
We are proud to introduce the new workforce development section of our website through this month’s newsletter! We have spent considerable time making connections and elevating the position of available jobs in the tourism and hospitality industry which will now be promoted on the website and linked to the hospitality programs at universities and colleges around the state as well as within the region. We are also providing resources to you to find further assistance for your own workforce development pursuits. As we move forward, we will continue to elevate the industry as a career path through presence at upcoming career fairs at the high school level and with connectivity with the Wilson Talent Center’s Culinary and Hospitality Program through the Ingham ISD. Be sure to attend the webinar on June 7 with Capital Area Michigan Works! to learn about the resources available through their programs as well as other useful information from the presenters.
The invoices for GLCVB membership went out this week and we thank you in advance for your support for the next year! Please reach out to me at jpingston@lansing.org if I can assist you in any way. Thank you!
Julie

Read MoreHawk Hollow Golf Course will be the host venue for the 2022 Michigan Amateur Championship. This is the premier tournament for amateur golf in our state. This is the 111th year that the tournament has been played. Past venues include Oakland Hills, Belvedere, Boyne, Detroit Golf Club, Eagle Eye, and Egypt Valley—just to name a few. This year will be only the third time ever that this event has been held at a course in the greater Lansing area.
The Golf Association of Michigan (GAM) administers the tournament. This event runs from June 27th through July 1st. The field consists of 162 players who will have competed in qualifying tournaments throughout Michigan to earn the opportunity to play in the championship. Contestants typically range in age from a few high school golfers up to top players in their fifties. As you might expect, most of the field are collegiate players who reside in Michigan and play for universities from all over the country.
