President's Message
After recently being named one of the three top destinations in the country by Accessible Journeys and Travel Ability for those traveling on the autism spectrum, the GLCVB is continuing our efforts with Diversity, Equity, Accessibility and Inclusion to achieve our mission of making Greater Lansing a welcoming destination for ALL.
To aid our visitors that may have a disability, we are conducting an inventory of select attractions, hotels and restaurants to compile comprehensive data that we will display on our website. This information is to help visitors with all types of disabilities plan appropriately, so they feel at ease with their upcoming visit. With your help, we can achieve this new goal.
We have partnered with students from MSU’s School of Hospitality Business who will be collecting the data and creating an inventory that we can add to your member listing on www.lansing.org. We will also use this information to create a webpage dedicated to accessibility.
Please let me know if you have any questions related to this project. We will culminate the effort and provide professional development opportunities for the industry at a newly created Tourism Accessibility Summit in October. Stay tuned for further details!
Please reach out to me at jpingston@lansing.org if I can assist you in any way. Thank you!
Julie

“The industry represents over 11,000 local jobs so exposing young people to a potential career path in hospitality is crucial to plant the seeds for our next generation of talent,” said Julie Pingston, GLCVB President and CEO.
