In Search of Good Coprolite
Sculpture by Mark Chatterley
January 11 - March 11, 2010
Community Reception: January 14, 2011, 7 - 9 PM

Lansing Art Gallery announces its debut at the new location, 119 N. Washington Sq. The 45 year-old organization will offer a first glimpse of its new location to visitors on January 11, 2011. "I am so pleased to have Mark Chatterley for our first exhibitor in this exciting new space," states Catherine Babcock, Executive Director. "As the new location boasts a freight elevator, it provides Mark access for his large sculptures."

The Gallery will feature Mark's nationally and internationally recognized sculptures. Chatterley, with over 30 years of experience in figurative sculpture, has showcased his works in venues as esteemed as SOFA, Chicago and as exotic as Faenza, Italy. A local treasure, Chatterley creates large-scale ceramic sculptures in his Williamston studio. Using clay, glaze and fire, Chatterley expresses his sense that "nothing is permanent and nothing stays the same." His signature glazes often baffle viewers, as the works feature a surface etched with craters. The exhibit, entitled, "In Search of Good Coprolite" features a collection of works created in 2010. Visitors may meet the artist at the opening reception held on January 14, from 7 - 9 PM.
