US-127 Rebuild Update with MDOT

The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) will be rebuilding US-127 from south of Lake Lansing Road north to I-69 to improve roadway geometrics, safety, and vehicular movement. This work will consist of pavement repairs using concrete rubblization with an asphalt overlay. This project also involves improving bridges through this corridor as well as upgrading drainage, signs, intelligent transportation systems, and pavement markings.

    • Lake Lansing Rd over US-127
    • NB and SB US-127 over Coleman Rd
    • State Rd over US-127

Schedule/Staging

  • Stages 1 & 2 (Mid-March through Mid-April)
    • Work includes building crossovers, widening SB US-127, traffic control setup, and temporary pavement marking placement
    • Lane closures along NB and SB US-127 will be in place during these stages
      • Intermittent ramp closures at the Lake Lansing Rd and I-69 interchanges will be needed
  • Stage 3 (Mid-April through Mid-Summer)
    • Work includes reconstruction/rehabilitation of NB US-127, with associated ramp and bridge work taking place, sound wall and ITS installation
    • Traffic will be maintained on SB US-127 with one lane SB and two lanes NB
      • Various ramp closures at the Lake Lansing Rd and I-69 interchanges will be in place
  • Stage 4 (Mid-Summer through Mid-Fall)
    • Work includes reconstruction/rehabilitation of SB US-127, with associated ramp and bridge work taking place, sound wall and ITS installation
    • Traffic will be maintained on NB US-127 with one lane SB and two lanes NB
      • Various ramp closures at the Lake Lansing Rd and I-69 interchanges will be in place
  • Stage 5 & 6 (Mid-Fall through November)
    • Work includes top course hot mix asphalt placement along NB US-127, crossover removal, and project cleanup
    • Traffic will be maintained on each respective bound, with lane closures in place
