November 2025
President's Message

It’s been a busy October (as always!) for Choose Lansing® and the Lansing Sports Commission®. Our team has been engaged with events taking place all over the region as well as opportunities to connect with meeting and event planners around the country and within the state of Michigan.
We are close to finalizing our 2026 Business Plan and 2026 Budget for the organization. The 2026 planning focuses on promoting the positive changes taking place throughout the region as well as hosting many unique events taking place next year. We have followed many economic forecasts and are budgeting for a stable year with minimal growth based on the impacts currently compressing the tourism industry. We will keep abreast of all tourism indicators as we move forward in 2026.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you for your continued support and collaboration as members of Choose Lansing® for another year! We appreciate all that our members are doing to enhance the experience for our visitors and we’re looking forward to a great 2026!
As always, please reach out to me at jpingston@lansing.org if I can assist you in any way. Thank you!

- Length of Stay: When they stay, visitors spend an average of 1.4 days in the area.
- Overnight Stays: 70% of visitors stay overnight.
- Repeat Visitors: 66.4% have visited Lansing before — showing strong loyalty and satisfaction with their experience in Lansing!
Our next Membership Moments with Melissa is on January 15, 2026, from 9 - 9:45 a.m.
For this quarter, I’ll be joined by Beth Jespersen, Research & Technology Systems Manager, where together we’ll be diving into our tourism outlook for 2026, and how 2025 is projected to end.
