President's Message

As a destination, we have worked together to advance the goal of being “welcoming to all”.
This month, I will be able to highlight the efforts of our community as a speaker at the Travel Ability Summit in Oregon. We have been one of the first destinations to add metrics to our accessibility initiatives by discovering that the national average for those traveling with someone in their travel party having a disability is 17% and the Lansing region’s average is 21%. That equates to over 450,000 of our 6.7 million visitors traveling here have someone in their travel party with a disability.
We also recently announced the successful completion of our collaboration with Wheel the World, a leading accessible travel platform. Through the Destination Verified program, 55 key tourism listings including 14 hotels, 30 attractions and 11 restaurants across the region, have been assessed and mapped, ensuring travelers with disabilities have reliable accessibility information. These listings are now available on Wheel the World’s platform and the Choose Lansing website, offering detailed insights, allowing visitors to plan their trips with confidence. We are grateful to Travel Michigan for providing a grant for us to be able to partner with Wheel the World!
I’m looking forward to sharing Lansing’s story at the Summit and bringing back new ideas and programs for our region to be able to continue to be a welcoming destination. As always, please reach out to me at jpingston@lansing.org if you have any questions or insights. Thank you!
Join us for an evening of fall fun, great company, and local flavor at the REO Town Clubhouse! This is a perfect chance to mix, mingle, and connect with fellow Choose Lansing members and Certified Tourism Ambassadors (CTAs).
Enjoy delicious bites and your first drink on us—plus, entertainment by Cherry State Entertainment’s own Jeremy Kratky, bringing the perfect vibe to round out the season.
After your complimentary drink, a cash bar will be available to keep the good times going.
Let’s toast to the season and all the great things happening in our community. We can’t wait to see you there!
When: Thursday, October 16, 2025 from 4:30 PM - 6:30 PM
Where: REO Town Clubhouse Ristorante 1314 S Washington Ave, Lansing, MI 48910
