The City of Lansing Public Service Department announces that starting in the fall of 2023, Michigan Avenue between Pennsylvania Avenue and Clippert Street will undergo construction for a roadway rehabilitation project. The project will require closures of Michigan Avenue from Pennsylvania Avenue to Clippert Street, but project phasing has not been finalized. The project is expected to last until approximately late 2024.

The $11.62 million project will include road reconstruction and reconfiguration, sidewalk replacement, traffic signal modernization, and upgrades to utilities such as sewer and water main work. In addition, one way bicycle tracks will be added adjacent to the sidewalk on both sides of Michigan Avenue to promote a safer environment for bicyclists. As part of the design, Michigan Avenue will be reconfigured from five lanes to four lanes, with two westbound traffic lanes, a center turn lane, and one eastbound traffic lane. View Map.
