The South Lansing FARMERS MARKET is open Thursdays from 3-7 pm, in the parking lot at St. Casimir Church, 800 W. Barnes Ave, in the heart of the Moores Park Neighborhood. We're outside when the weather cooperates, inside if there's rain or snow or heat wave or tsunami....It's Michigan, right?
Kid-, pet-, bike-, and pokemon- friendly (if that's still a thing).
Availability of fresh fruits, veggies, and plants varies each week depending on the season and rainfall. If you ask why there's no sweet corn in May or strawberries in August, we'll roll our eyes and politely direct you to the Michigan Harvest Calendar.
In addition to produce, vendors also have have beef, eggs, honey, sweet and savory breads, desserts, relish and dips, jerky, jams/jellies, fresh cut flowers, fabric and wood crafts, natural body and household products, and hot food vendors offering Mexican and BBQ.
Check the comments in each event to see a list of weekly vendors and offerings.
Healthy recipes, taste samples, and nutrition info with Misti Cook.
Interactive kids activities with big kid Emily Dievendorf.
Live entertainment 4-6 pm with different performers each week.
Taco mama Kathleen Rogers will have tacos (duh), Ukranian pierogi, hot dogs and other yums.
Raffle prizes every 20 minutes from vendors and local businesses.
Vendors love cash, but we also accept Visa, MasterCard, EBT, Double Up Food Bucks (DUFB), WIC Project Fresh and Senior Market Fresh coupons.
DUFB allows EBT shoppers to stretch their food dollars at most local farmers markets.
For every $2 spent from their EBT card, shoppers get $2 in "Double Up Food Bucks" FREE to spend on fresh fruits and veggies. Up to $20... every week... FREE.
25 markets x $20 = $500 in free fruits and veggies over the course of the season!
