The Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) program was launched in 1985 to enhance the knowledge and performance of meeting professionals, promote the status and credibility of the meeting profession, and advance uniform standards of practice. The Event Industry Council proudly reports on their website that the CMP credential is recognized globally as the badge of excellence in the meeting, convention, exhibition, and event industry. The qualifications for certification are based on professional experience, education, and a rigorous exam.

The Greater Lansing Convention and Visitors Bureau (GLCVB) is proud to announce its was recently awarded Best Large CVB by the members of the Michigan Society of Association Executives (MSAE) at its Annual Association Choice Awards held last November at the East Lansing Marriott at University Place in East Lansing. This is the second year in a row the honor has been bestowed upon the GLCVB.
The Greater Lansing Convention and Visitors Bureau (GLCVB) is pleased to announce Beth Hoschner, CTA, has been named Customer Relationship Management & Technology Systems Manager. She will direct the day to day management of the organization’s CRM system, provide CRM training to our members and partners and serve as liaison to the organization’s IT and technology providers.
The most common question I am asked by social, military and religious event planners is ‘what are some creative solutions for planning events on tight budgets?’ Based on the group and their specific needs I have five solid creative budget considerations that can make an event great at a fraction of the cost.
