Statehood Day 2018 will commemorate the people who created our state -- First Peoples, statesmen, townspeople. Save room for a slice of birthday cake to celebrate Michigan's statehood anniversary and don't miss our featured activities: Celebrate the hot game of hot 1840s …with a Euchre Tournament! Enjoy classic and folk tunes local legends Acoustic Strings and Friends. Learn more about Anishinaabe arts, culture and history with Nokomis Learning Center. Try out Book-making with the Library of Michigan. View statehood documents including Michigan's first constitution. Participate in historic craft and trade demonstrations -- make a corn husk doll, learn how wool becomes clothing and churn some butter! Weekend parking at the Michigan History Center is free.
