The City, in partnership with downtown East Lansing businesses, hosts the Great Pumpkin Walk each year on the streets of downtown East Lansing.
Families are encouraged to bring their children to downtown in full costume to receive free door-to-door treats from more than 50 friendly downtown merchants. Each year, more than 1,000 trick-or-treaters pack downtown sidewalks for this safe and fun trick-or-treating event.
As part of the Great Pumpkin Walk, the Wild Goose Inn, 512 Albert Ave., will be hosting its 7th Annual “Land of Oz." With the assistance of East Lansing High School’s Theater Department, this popular downtown bed & breakfast will transform into the colorful, enchanting “Land of Oz.” The event will feature a yellow brick road, Dorothy, the munchkins and even some lions, tigers and bears, oh my! For more information, contact (517) 333-3334.
*Parking is available in all downtown parking ramps and surface lots. There is no starting point for the event.

Safe Halloween takes place along M.A.C. Avenue between Burcham and Elizabeth streets. Each year, the MSU Greek community hosts the event to provide children a safe environment to trick-or-treat. Children will enjoy trick-or-treating, games and interaction with college students in one of MSU's predominantly Greek neighborhoods.
With an estimated 200 volunteers from the MSU Greek community and financial sponsorships provided by area businesses and community partners, this free, annual event has become enormously popular in recent years.
ROAD CLOSURE NOTICE: Please note M.A.C. Avenue will be closed to traffic from Linden Street to Burcham Street from 4-7:30 p.m. on Oct. 27 to accommodate the Safe Halloween event. Traffic is encouraged to exercise caution around that area, as well as in the downtown.
