I'm an animal person. I can say that pretty confidently. I've had pets all my life and have treasured memories from all of them, especially the dogs. So yeah I love pets, but a few years ago my wife and I bought our first house and everything was so nice and new and clean I just didn't feel ready to bring a dog or cat into the picture. I mean hey, I love animals, I do, but my wife and kids and I are all busy! Work and school and baseball practice and basketball games and guitar lessons can keep us away from the house for long periods of time and that can make even a great pet sneak into an empty bedroom and pee on the floor - I'm just saying... So needless to say a pet was not really on my radar but my wife and kids eventually won me over and we adopted a rescue dog from Lansing's Animal Placement Bureau. I have to say, I actually forgot just how much happiness a pet can bring to a household. The cute and funny things they do that bring you out of a bad mood or how snuggling with them on the couch makes that moment of rest all the more special - these things are easy to forget about but once you have them back, they are all of a sudden really important. Yes our new dog has worked her way into all of our hearts to be sure, and we're really excited to have our first Christmas with her coming up pretty soon. The family time we're looking forward to this year for sure includes our new pooch. Wouldn't you like to take advantage of the special holiday season to open your home up to a pet? I myself thought I was too busy for a pet, or that they might mess up the house but I couldn't have been more wrong. We got the right pet for our family and I couldn't be happier with her. Spend some time with the adoptable pets and helpful staff at the Capital Area Humane Society Holiday Open House on December 10th from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and see if the right pet for you is looking for a home for the holidays! They are offering special pricing and there will be holiday pet gifts on display so check it out. These animals need your help and they'll bring a light to your life that will last long past Christmas.
