Have you heard? Its almost time for Be A Tourist In Your Own Town! That's right, Saturday, May 30th from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. all you need is your Greater Lansing passport and the doors of the community are wide open to you! Explore over 90 area attractions and hot spots! How fun is that? Whether you've done this event before or not, Be A Tourist is an incredibly awesome way to better get to know the Greater Lansing area. I like to call Be A Tourist the Capital City on its best day. All its best offerings open, available and full of smiling faces. I'm talking serious variety here. Everything from parks, gardens, golf courses and the zoo, to museums, galleries, the Capitol, the planetarium, bowling, ice cream, roller skating, ice skating and on and on and on. Get your group together, get a plan together and take to the city on May 30th! CATA covers transportation to nearly all of the attractions for just 50 cents per person and if you're like me, you'll find some of the people in your group will say their favorite thing all day - was riding around on the bus! Especially kids love this. What are a couple of my favorite stops you ask? Since I'm an old pro at this I'd be happy to share. I love the MSU Surplus Store, Mt. Hope Cemetery, the Bug House and tours of Cooley Law School Stadium, the home of the Lansing Lugnuts. Go online or grab your passports in advance to learn about exactly whats going on at these places the day of the event. Its a blast seeing Greater Lansing shine on this day, with curious and happy residents scurrying around learning, laughing and getting stamps on their passports, dreaming of prizes to come. Its a day I'm very proud to promote and a day you simply dont want to miss!
