Greater Lansing is known for many things: Michigan State University, the State Capitol building, historic cars and festivals–lots of festivals. Just about every weekend, especially during the summer months, you can find an event (or three or four) happening some time, some place and for every type of interest.

If we had to pick one month as our favorite of the year, June would definitely be a contender. Why, you ask? Oh, let’s see…it has the longest list of festivals, you can finally enjoy warm-weather attractions like the Lansing River Trail, there is an outdoor concert almost every day, etc., etc. Take advantage of this eventful month and add a few of these summer festivals to your calendar.
As employees of the Greater Lansing Convention & Visitors Bureau, we promote Lansing every day of the year, it’s just what we do. But what if our career didn’t obligate us to endorse the region as a great place to visit? Would we still cheer on the area with pride? Would we still be eager to share about all the great events and attractions with friends and family?
If you were to ask anyone from our office these questions, you’re likely to hear a resounding yes.
Our team is not only passionate about promoting the area for special events like 517 Day, or just because it’s our job, we do it because it's who we are!
In honor of 517 Day, check out the video below to see a few things our employees had to say when asked, “Why do you love living in Lansing?” Then, keep reading on because there’s more!

Ok, now let’s dive in.
You may have heard Greater Lansing referred to as “Michigan’s Festival Capital” and if that doesn’t make sense now, it will soon. As summer approaches, the list of events grows longer and longer. Take advantage of the additional things to do and start planning what you’ll attend this month. Here are a few can’t-miss, Lansing events to help you get started.

It’s February in Greater Lansing and if a month for celebrating love and chocolate doesn’t excite you, maybe being another 30 days closer to spring will. In the meantime, as we anxiously wait for a glimpse of the first robin, why not attend a few of these events to help pass the time? Then, March–and ultimately spring–will be here before you know it.
