Yes, I admit, it’s brash to call an appetizer the “best.” There are scores of restaurants in Greater Lansing where you can eat appetizing food (stuffed delicata squash at Capital Prime, anyone?) and, of course, I haven’t tasted everything on every menu. So it’s probably more accurate to say the eats that follow are only my personal favorites.

When The Food Network called to say that Guy Fieri was coming to Lansing, there wasn't anyone surprised that MEAT Southern BBQ would be on his short list of quirky, yet delicious eateries featured on the hit show Diners, Drive-ins and Dives.

By definition, food trucks are fairly inconspicuous. They’re just, “vehicles equipped with facilities for cooking and selling food.” If you’re more intimately acquainted with any, then you know they’re more akin to ice cream trucks for grownups. These vehicles may not play music as they drive through town (maybe they should?), but it’s pretty exciting when you peek out the office window at lunchtime and see one pulling up.
Parked throughout Lansing are numerous food trucks that offer a variety of cuisines like farm-to-truck fare and down-to-Earth comfort food. With the weather warming up, now is the perfect time to escape your routine and try something a little less conventional. Consider yourself warned though, once you try a food truck it’s easy to convert to the curb-side. So forget dining within four walls, try one of these meals that come from four wheels.

If there’s one thing I value, it’s variety. Routine bores me and the commonplace disinterests me. The same is true for my eating habits. Don’t get me wrong; I enjoy a traditional burger and beer joint as much as the next person, but I just prefer my burger to have a unique combination of toppings and my beer to be craft. Maybe that sounds snobbish, but I can’t help I have an innate desire to constantly try new foods and explore new places. Can you relate? If so, you’re probably a fellow foodie and will appreciate these restaurants in Greater Lansing that serve up delicious and unique dishes:
