In 2017 FORBES Magazine named Event Professionals and Event Planning in the top 10 most stressful jobs. I think it’s important to support each other and be able to laugh or relate to each others experiences so we don’t all go crazy from stress. If you're a meeting planner and reading these makes you want to tell your story, share it with me and I'll send you a special gift to help relieve your event planning stress! Here are a few event "uh-oh moments" from Greater Lansing event planners - who asked to remain nameless - you may either relate to,  or think, “wow, I really hope I never experience that…” Enjoy!

There are a lot of little things that can really make the difference between a mediocre event and something truly memorable. One of the small things I always make sure to do is have a little something to give to keynote speakers that take time out of his or her schedule to speak and present in Greater Lansing. Depending on your role in the industry, maybe you're not giving gifts to speakers but in the course of an event, there is usually someone you need to thank. Smart planners are also considerate and thoughtful people. Because of this, I'm often asked, "what are good gifts to give to speakers?" To this I usually reply, "I'm glad you asked!"

Do you ever walk into a reception room at a conference or convention feeling a little socially awkward and think, "Well, I've introduced myself - Now what do I talk about?!" I'm guessing a lot of you have been in this awkward and lonely boat. I’ve been to many mixers, event receptions and conference socials and the ones that have a unique signature cocktail make it very easy to start a conversation with someone you don’t know yet, but want to get to know better as a potential business contact.

Do your event attendees love “Up-North Meetings” but struggle with travel time, ability to see the area, golf, really and truly experience the resort activities they look forward to AND attend sessions and network like they’re supposed to?  What if you could cut the travel time out and get right to those highly sought-after up-north amenities? Did you know you could have the best of both worlds? Where? Right in Greater Lansing, Michigan – and in seven easy ways!
