LANSING, Mich.-The City of Lansing and the Lansing Economic Development Corporation announce three arts and cultural grant programs for fiscal year 2010 - 2011 to directly impact Lansing arts and culture organizations and residents in order to drive community revitalization in Lansing. The programs include: the City Minigrant Program, the Arts and Cultural Anchors Program, and the newly developed, Sense of Place in the Arts Program. Organizations must meet eligibility criteria, must contribute to the City's "sense of place" as a part of its cultural economic development philosophy, and must produce collaborative, visible programs that directly impact Lansing residents. Grants will range from $2,500 - $30,000 depending on the program and the number of applicants in each. The project period will run Nov. 1, 2010 - May 1, 2011.
On behalf of the City of Lansing, the Lansing Economic Development Corporation has contracted with the Arts
Council of Greater Lansing to administer the programs and provide consultation, expertise and program support to the arts and cultural community throughout the grant process.
Applications will be reviewed by an advisory panel made up of economic development and artistic professionals selected on the basis of their familiarity with, and expertise in, a broad spectrum of artistic and economic development practices. The panel will select award recipients based upon the quality of the proposed project, its collaborative efforts, the impact on Lansing and its residents, and the organization's fiscal competence. Interested non-profit arts and cultural groups must submit a letter of intent to apply for the programs through the Arts Council by Sept. 3, 2010. Completed grant applications must be submitted to the Arts Council at 1208 Turner St. in Old Town by 5 p.m. on Sept. 24, 2010. Applications may be downloaded from the Arts Council's website at http://www.lansingarts.org/, under the Resources section. Individualized support and technical assistance is available by calling the Arts Council at (517) 372-4636 for an appointment.
