My daughter has been taking Irish Dancing (You know, like you saw in Riverdance) for a long time and through that got turned onto this popular song and dance show called Celtic Woman. When my wife and I saw that it was coming to Wharton Center it was a no-brainer to get tickets as an early Christmas gift. As it turned out her Grandpa beat us to it, and got tickets for them to see this great show, tomorrow, November 4th, at the Wharton Center. I guess there is no better performance to serve as a backdrop for a mother and daughter to see together and have a little time away from the guys. Now that I think of it they did the same thing when Annie came to town a year ago or so.
Honestly, one of the best things about the Greater Lansing community is the Wharton Center for Performing Arts. They are always, I mean year after year, bringing in the very best shows in the world to our community and now with the renovations complete (see included awesome picture) the stage is set (tee-hee) for another fantastic season at Wharton. The crew at Wharton Center is so good, in fact, that perfection has become commonplace. We'll have 6 or 7 Broadway Shows every year that communities our size all over the country would die for, and our area residents will calmly remark, "Oh yes, Wharton has another good line up this year." I guess Wharton spoils this community with great Broadway shows the way the Yankees spoil New Yorkers with World Series appearances year after year. The good news is you don't have to be a resident to enjoy this incredible performing arts venue. Check out www.whartoncenter.com for more information and come to Lansing for a show, have dinner and stay the night and see for yourself that you don't have to go to New York, Chicago or even Detroit for world-class plays, concerts and performances - It's all available right here in East Lansing at the Wharton Center.
As an area resident for a long time I have great memories to cherish of Wharton performances I've seen over the years. I've seen everything from Peter Pan to Lion King to Tori Amos and much more. You know, someone owes Wharton Center a great big thank you. Well, here is one local dad, and Greater Lansing community fan, saying Bravo Wharton Center for everything you do, and for setting the perfect stage for some Mother-Daughter time for my two Celtic Women.
